What Makes a Good Clone

Cloning is generally an asexual means of reproduction since it does not involve a male and female plant, and the plant is able to reproduce without having to pollinate itself. This is a phenomenon that is observed amongst different plants, so it is seen as a secondary means of reproduction for plants when they are not able to produce sexually. This is a backup plan for plants that allows them to be able to still survive and reproduce in extreme conditions.

Cloning is a relatively simple process, and it can be done safely and quickly if you happen to know what you are doing. A lot of people happen to be making use of cloning and are cloning a variety of different plants. However, one of the most popular plants that have been getting cloned lately is cannabis plants. Now that laws and regulations have relaxed around cannabis use, a lot of people are now consuming cannabis in a number of different ways, and are even growing cannabis in their own yards either for personal use or to sell other people. However, the laws do tend to vary here so one has to be careful before trying to grow cannabis.

A lot of people that are still novices and are learning about cannabis and growing cannabis by themselves, usually end up making a lot of mistakes. This is why a lot of people recommend that newbies always start out with cloning their cannabis plants so that they can get used to a safe and consistent yield, and become relatively familiarized with the process of growing a cannabis plant. In order to get started with growing clones, one has to get a good mother plant, and we will talk more about that later. So, when you are out to buy cannabis clones, you need to make sure that you have a really good mother plant or else you will end up suffering later.

When you are cloning a plant, you are essentially slicing off a part of the plant from its stem and then placing it in a separate area to grow. Over time, the stem should grow roots and eventually grow into a full plant that will be a perfect copy of the mother plant. This means that every time you cut off a part of the mother plant, you will get a perfect clone of it every time, hence a safe and consistent yield. In order for this to happen, you need to have a good mother plant, and you need to make sure that you keep the mother plant healthy. Plus, you need to make sure that the stem is grown enough before you try to cut it because a young stem will not be developed enough to grow its own root network.

If we look into mother plants, you want to make sure that you pick the right one because there is no room for manipulation when you are reproducing asexually, so you want a mother plant that has the best possible set of desirable genes. This can include good health, resistance to certain diseases, high yield, good quality, etc. Different people have different ideas of what they are looking for in their mother plant. This means that you will have to search high and low until you find a mother plant that meets your requirements. Mother plants, especially good ones tend to go at a higher rate and it might be tempting to just opt for a cheaper mother plant, it is strongly advised that you pay the extra amount because it will definitely pay off in the long run when you are dealing with massive yields and have good plants every time.

Once you have a consistent yield going and you have got a hold of the reigns, you can then switch things up and then opt for reproducing some plants sexually and cross different genes in order to come up with different combinations and results. This allows you to be able to experiment and have fun. However, the risk of bad crossovers is unavoidable, and you will probably end up messing up every now and then and deal with bad yields. However, some people manage to genuinely enjoy doing it and coming up with different results.

Of course, if you want to play it safe and avoid having to potentially deal with disasters, then you can just stick to cloning. You can get a number of different mother plants and have them create different kinds of clones. It is ultimately a matter of preference and what you are more comfortable with. So, you do not have to feel pressured to try different means of growing your cannabis plant if you have already found your preferred method of growing your plant as long as you are comfortable.
